This twelfth episode in our UK falconry series highlights one of the other important aspects of falconry: camaraderie. Not all falconers are social with their practice, and that's perfectly fine. However, for a large majority of falconers across the world, the friendships and bonds formed in the field with others practicing this art are as important as the relationships formed with their raptors. This episode features one of those lifelong friendships, with Simon Tyers and Ian Butler taking the time to talk about how they formed their friendship in falconry, their falconry routine, and a few of their falconry highlights in the field! This eleventh episode in our series featuring falconers from the UK was the first of a few recorded after meeting back up with Simon Tyers, who was kind enough to host the following week and offer up his lodge on his property as a recording spot. The start of this new international series kicks off at the Vowley Expo, where several episodes were recorded over the weekend of July 22-24, 2022. While attending the Vowley Expo, Steve Halsall took some time to sit down with us after setting up his booth to discuss, amongst other things, his passion for hood-making, his start in the sport, and of course, some of his experiences hawking in the UK! In this episode, Rodrigo elaborates more on how falconry works in Mexico, and of course, shares some more great stories! This second episode recorded in Aguascalientes features Carlos Cruz, and is the fifth installment in our international series showcasing some of the great falconry Mexico has to offer! It was fun to watch Carlos take a duck with his peregrine the same day as Martin's, and afterwards, he was kind enough to join us and share some of his experiences and stories, including some of his favorite peregrine flights and experiences with passage aplomado falcons.
